WELDING INSPECTION

We have qualified welding inspectors from TWI CSWIP 3.2&3.1

  • Review the specifications, referenced codes and standards, field changes and other approved documents such as Procedures, shop/construction drawings, erection drawings, Isometric drawing, P & ID drawing, etc.
  • Verify that materials to be welded are the specified grade, type, size, thickness, etc., that required by approved documents for the project.
  • Review manufacturer’s material test reports.  Welder’s qualification according to (ASME IX).
  • Design or approved the welding procedure for each welding type & position acc. to (AWS) procedure Qualification Tests required for non-pre qualified welds and verify that Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs) are compliant with all applicable requirements. (This tests done in locally labs).
  • Verify that all welding consumables comply with the approved documents and the approved WPS and verify that all electrodes are properly stored.
  • Verify that the electrical characteristic (welding current and voltage) are within the WPS parameters by using a calibrated hand-held volt / amp meter.
  • Verify that joint preparation, assembly practice, preheat temperatures, interposes temperatures, welding techniques, welder performance, and post-weld heat treatment meet the requirements of the approved documents, WPS, and applicable code.
  • Conduct visual inspection of the work: Verify size, length, and location of all welds. Verify that all welds conform to the requirements of the code and approved documents.
  • Mark completed welds, parts, and joints that have been inspected and accepted with a distinguishing mark, tag or dye stamp. The mark shall include: Testing laboratory initials (if applicable), inspector’s initials, inspection date and status.
  • Schedule our responsible for nondestructive testing (NDT) technicians in a timely manner, after visual inspection and acceptance is complete.

 PIPELINES INSPECTION

  • Review Pipeline Design specification and Data Sheet.
  • Written or Review Inspection and Quality control plan Inspection Test Plan.
  • Inspection of site of transmission pipe track to ensure classification of area, type Construction and safe distance available.
  • Inspection of Maximum and minimum depth of the pipeline, Slope angle, Depth of ditching, Distance of maximum span to be supported, Right of way (ROW).
  • Check the stringing activities
  • Checking the application of the welding parameter and requirements:
  1. Joints preparations (cleaning, bevel angle, gap….etc.)
  2. Electrical characteristics (current, polarity)
  3. Shape & size of welded joints.
  4. Others WPS's requirements
  • Written or review Welding Procedure Specification, Procedure Qualification Records, Welding Performance Qualification Test, Coating Performance Qualification Test, Repairs Procedure and Welder Certificates.
  • Perform welders' qualification (WPQ) and welding procedure qualification (PQR).
  • Inspection of welding preparation, alignment of pipe, visual inspection of weld result.
  • Non-destructive test (radiographic test using crawler x ray and gamma ray or AUT technique, PT, UT).
  • Inspection of pipe bending on site: Check Dia. ovulate, thickness reduction,
  • Dint, Radius of pipe bends (SAG & OB).
  • Strength calculation review: Stress occurring on pipe, buckling,
  • Pipe support calculation and Hydrostatic test procedure.
  • Review of corrosion protection system calculation: Characteristic of corrosion
  • Corrosion protection method, Specification and dimension of coating.
  • Review of document of approvals or recommendation from competent authorities.
  • For environment protection management and monitoring programs.
  • Inspection of Cathodic Protection, Painting and retrofitting anode.
  • Coating checking (cleaning, thickness & spark test).
  • Provision of all equipment for hydrostatic testing (filling and pressurizing pumps, dead weight tester, temp and pressure recorder, pressure gauges).
  • Verify highest, lowest and test site elevation prior to perform hydro test.
  • Hydrostatic test inspection (cleaning ,filling, pressuring ,dewatering, drying and purging)
  • Issuing test reports
